Child Care Programs

Infants & Toddlers

WINGS Child Care Infant and Toddler Program can accept children who are 6 weeks to 23 months of age.

We focus on age-appropriate developmental learning programs. Our goal is for the children to develop intellectually, physically, socially, and spiritually as they play and interact in a cheerful and loving Christian environment. We provide activities for specific goals in individual need areas including: fine and large motor skills, cognitive, communication, and social/emotional development.

From the start infants will be introduced to the wonders of books, including nursery rhymes, fables, Bible stories and songs. As the children mature they will be introduced to sensory play, sign language, Art, Music and movement, and identifying face features (i.e., eyes, nose, ears, etc.). We are equipped with many age-appropriate materials and toys such as manipulatives, blocks, musical toys, housekeeping, dramatic play, and books. Time outside on the playground will be provided as often as possible, weather permitting, for physical activities.

3-Years Old Program

3-year olds ask who, what, where, and why? So our program for this age group is designed to develop the “whole child” — intellectually, physically, socially and spiritually. It is based on learning through play, and our daily routine consists of activities the children love to do — art projects, puzzles, manipulative toys, and dramatic play. The children will also enjoy learning beginners’ printing and stage one reading. We will offer activities designed to enhance development and answer their questions about the world around them!

Most days after breakfast we begin with circle time focusing on cognitive development, and include songs, puzzles, finger puppets, games, or reading a story. The month, day of the week, pledge to the flag, and a prayer are included in this segment — maybe even an experiment or two!

After circle time, the day will continues with learning and fun in our “special classes,” such as science, dramatic play, sign language, music, computer skills, and Fitness Fun. In addition to the special classes, each three-year-old will often participate in playground activities and socialize with other children while enjoying lunch. An afternoon circle time is provided for various educational themed subjects.

Before & After Care

School-Age Program - No more Latch key kids!

The school-age program at WINGS will help our working parents balance the competing demands of work and family life. We are a safe alternative to the “latch key kid” phenomenon. According to the 1997 U.S. Census Bureau, “24 million school-age children had one or more parents in the workforce. Many children arrive home from school to an empty house and spend several hours a day without adult supervision. Middle school children have fewer before and after school options and tend to engage in riskier behavior; the majority of crimes committed by this age group occurs between 2:00 and 6:00pm.” WINGS Child Care is unique because we offer activities specifically for ages 13 & 14 year olds, unlike the average child care provider whose cut-off age is 12 years.

Children in our school-age program have access to high quality, developmentally appropriate resources and materials. These resources will help build character and leadership skills, provide spiritual inspiration; develop life skills, and enhance their mainstream education.

We offer before, after, and full day care for school-ages 5 to 14 years. School-age care is available year round for before or after school or both before and after school, and full or half days during school breaks, and holidays or summer vacation.

The School-age Program provides a full range of fun, educational, and recreational programs. Breakfast, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, dinner, and evening snack are provided in the course of a day.

We also provide supervised safe transportation to and from neighborhood public schools. Our drivers are required to hold a valid Illinois drivers license issued by the Secretary of State.

The objective of our school-age program is to:

  • Enhance knowledge and skills and provide exposure to a range of activities that are educational and challenging
  • Provide an opportunity to learn new things in a constructive and positive atmosphere
  • Improve physical, emotional, social and spiritual well-being
  • Teach effective communication and build self-confidence
  • Prevent substance abuse, bullying behavior, violence and delinquency
  • Teach relevant social and behavioral skills with an emphasis on leadership development
  • Build personal capacities

The School-age program is designed to allow children to make choices and be given opportunities to voice their opinions. Children will also be responsible for the choices they make and will be taught how to ask questions, make decisions and negotiate/advocate for themselves.
